Have you heard of the term ‘ Funemployment ‘ ? 

The term funemployment refers to a period of time when individuals decide to enjoy the free time that comes with being unemployed.


Gen Z and Millennials are more likely to be Funemployed. As we are bound to spend the time working on our side hustles. The average worker has a main 9-5 job and one or two side entrepreneurial side hustles or projects. 

 

We are in the Gig economy era. The gig economy gets its name from each piece of work being akin to an individual 'gig' – although, such work can fall under multiple names. It has previously been called the "sharing economy" — mostly in reference to platforms such as Airbnb — and the "collaborative economy".

 

Young people are not ready for the workplace 2020 so how do we prepare them for the workplace 2030 and beyond? 

 

” In the next ten years, there will be huge advantages for people who stand out as a Key Person of Influence in their chosen field. Gen Z Entrepreneurs like myself have been remote working on our side hustles before Covid-19 created a new normal and standard of remote working policy at work. 

 

As we Re-imagine education, skills and employment for 2030. We must discuss the Skills and Strategies we need to thrive in the era of Exponential Technologies.

 

On Tuesday 24th of September, I was invited as a delegate to attend the World Futures Summit.It was organised by Matthew Griffin ,CEO,311 institute & Co-Founder,World Futures Forum.




Everything is accelerating, there are a lot of things and skills needed to change.

There are new emerging technologies in fashion which will create new jobs 2030 and beyond for creatives. Creatives will have ownership and will be able to use their natural talent with technology to re-shape the industry.

What does the future of work look like ?

 

Education — General Specialists /To be a master of our own futures we’re having to re-invent global education and training, lifelong learning is no longer an option and those who can adopt will thrive.

 

Learning platforms /Platforms at the heart of our increasingly connected society can identify and create competency matrices for new professions as they emerge and ascend.

 

Future skills portals — Once we understand the types of careers that are emerging we can build competency matrices and execute our learning strategies.

 



Changing workplace 

Machines in the workplace are expected to create:

 

133 million new roles

 

75 million displaced roles

 

Machines to perform more tasks than the workforce – currently 29%

 

54% of the workforce needs to up skill by 2025

 

What are employers key challenges?

 

Hiring the right people, with the right talent, at the right time.

 

In the past : Degree to go into a career, get a pension and stay in that career for life .

 

Now : Multiple careers in a lifetime, practicing in an industry with a degree that isn’t the norm ( experiences, skills, connections )




Technology helps decentralise, demonetise. Simplifying people’s access to technology. It is inevitable that careers will dead end at an increasingly rapid rate.



What soft skills do employers want? 

 

As the rate of technological progress accelerates we need to rethink today’s education and training programs.

Overall, There are four key factors to consider when discussing the future of work, all of which have an impact on one another, and all of which are changing. Purpose, Place, People and Technology. Company Culture needs to be Happier, Humanised, Profitable. Everyone has the potential to change themselves and the world, but most lack access to the right insights, people and resources.Creativite machines will help us unlock new opportunities that never existed before and create things that never existed before.Our contracts with corporations, governments and society needs to be re-defined to help us break down the barriers and prejudices that hold us back from achieving our dreams, realising our full potential, and flourishing in a world of constant change. Learning has to be fore life, barriers broken down, and no one should be left behind.
